Art Exhibitions…how important they are to me
In May 2025 I will host my second SOLO ART SHOW. I’ve called it Abundance. It’s a fitting name for a body of work that is inspired by nature & reflects the riches that life has to offer. it is an invitation to be reminded that we are surrounded by riches at all times: from the sky, the moon, the stars, trees, flowers and everything in between. They are all about connection and the cycles of life. With a thread of love running through them all.
This Art Show will be a culmination of months of work. Hours and hours…and even full days lost to painting! Gathering together a collection of paintings that I want to showcase. My paintings are my heart and soul and I have to allow them to speak…not just to me but to anyone else who’s listening (looking!). I think it may also be a particularly special experience for me having come to art later on in life. In many ways I’ve spent most of my life blending into the background, so it is a way of embracing myself and taking up space in the world. It is a vulnerable position to put myself in as I am essentially saying “This is me.”
I truly believe that my paintings each have something to say and they say it best when they are in a group together. It feels like their voice is more powerful somehow. When the exhibition is hung and it all looks amazing something magical happens in my heart and I feel completely full up with it. The icing on the cake is other people coming to take a look up close and hopefully most of them connect with them in some way. I love speaking about my paintings to anybody who wants to hear it. Of course I also love finding new homes for some of my work too. There is no better feeling than knowing somebody else has fallen in love with it too.
In all honesty, although I absolutely love having an exhibition of my work, it is both equal measure exciting & stressful. All the negative talk can inhabit my mind & take up a lot of space…if I let it. I am extremely lucky that I have a dear friend (Sally Lewis) that comes to help hang the exhibition. Her independent eye and calm manner really help make the most of bringing the work together. It also feels magical that after over 40 years of friendship this has become a ritual for us together. Big love to Sally Lewis.
I think I’ve said enough on this now. Just to finish by saying I also have a joint show coming up in Woodbridge from the 21st-27th May with fellow artist & colour-lover, Trudi Shewan. I will create another blog post on the unique experience of hosting an exhibition together.
But for now I say thank you for reading thus far. I say please come along & say hi if you can. I say consider investing in a piece of art for your home. I say if you can’t afford an original piece of art consider buying one of my art cards based on my original paintings. There really is a budget for everyone. But mainly please just come along.
Thank You ♥️🙏🏾
Big love, Corinne x
